Uno Mural

A mural depicting the "UNO" box, painted on the side wall of Redwine & Co

Did you know that the game of Uno originated right here in Reading, Ohio?

Uno was created by Merle Robbins in Reading in 1971. Mr. Robbins, a local barber, saw the game catching on among family and friends so he decided to have 5,000 decks made and began to sell them in his barbershop. Soon after, other local businesses started selling the game and the rest is history!

The mural and plaque marking Uno’s birthplace are located on the side of Redwine & Co., located at 20 West Benson Street in Reading’s Bridal District. Plans are underway to create an annual Uno Tournament for community members.
